Rams Legend Eric Dickerson Praises Incoming Angels Owner Stan Kroenke: "He Likes Winning"
Longtime Los Angeles Rams standout Eric Dickerson shared his positive views on Stan Kroenke, the sports mogul set to acquire the Los Angeles Angels, highlighting his commitment to victory.

Legendary Rams running back Eric Dickerson made an appearance at Angel Stadium on Wednesday evening, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch before the Los Angeles Angels' game against the New York Yankees in Anaheim. His visit coincided with a significant shift for the Southern California baseball franchise, as longtime owner Arte Moreno recently agreed to sell the team. The impending acquisition by Stan Kroenke, a prominent sports owner known for his success with the Rams and other teams, has generated considerable discussion among fans.
Prior to stepping onto the field, Dickerson shared his positive assessment of Kroenke, describing him as a formidable figure in the sports world. "He's kind of quiet but a really good businessman, as you can tell," Dickerson remarked. He added a clear observation about Kroenke's competitive drive: "Stan likes winning. I can tell you that right now. He likes winning."
Dickerson, who serves as an ambassador for the Rams organization, also lightheartedly commented on the serendipitous timing of his visit to Anaheim. He recounted his reaction upon hearing the news: "When I saw it, I was like, ‘I’m supposed to throw the first pitch out.’"
A New Era for Angels Baseball
Kroenke Sports & Entertainment officially reached an agreement on Tuesday to acquire a controlling stake in the Angels, with the deal reportedly valuing the franchise at $4 billion. This significant transaction is anticipated to conclude in early 2027, pending the necessary approvals from Major League Baseball.
This acquisition will bring an end to Arte Moreno's 23-year tenure as the Angels' controlling owner.
Moreno originally purchased the team from Disney for $184 million in 2003, a year after the Angels secured their inaugural World Series championship.
While the Angels experienced initial success during Moreno's ownership, the franchise has faced considerable challenges over the past decade. The team has recorded 11 consecutive losing seasons, has not qualified for the postseason since 2014, and has not secured a single playoff victory since 2009.
Kroenke's History of Success
Kroenke is set to take over a team with one of baseball's most dedicated yet long-suffering fan bases. However, his established history of success in professional sports organizations provides a strong indication of his capabilities.
His extensive sports empire boasts an impressive collection of championships, including a Super Bowl victory with the Rams, an NBA title with the Denver Nuggets, a Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche, and a Premier League title with Arsenal Football Club.
The prospect of a proven winner assuming control has given Angels fans renewed hope for a positive transformation. On Tuesday evening, years of fervent "sell the team" chants from the fanbase notably shifted to a new, more definitive expression: "Goodbye, Arte."
