Zaire Wade, the son of revered NBA figure Dwyane Wade, is currently facing significant legal accusations following his apprehension in California.
Earlier this week, Zaire Wade was taken into custody in Burbank on suspicion of domestic violence. Law enforcement officials reportedly discovered a woman with visible cuts and lacerations across her face and body.
Reports indicate that authorities were alerted to the situation around 5:30 a.m. local time on Sunday when a 911 call was placed concerning a woman's screams. Upon arrival, officers located both the injured woman and Zaire Wade.
Following interactions with those involved, Zaire Wade was subsequently arrested on suspicion of multiple felony charges, including domestic violence, criminal threats, and false imprisonment.
The 24-year-old was released from custody later that same day, shortly before noon, after posting a $50,000 bond. An emergency protective order has reportedly been issued, and the matter is being referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for further review. Additionally, a handgun was reportedly recovered from the location of the incident.
Background and Family Connections
Zaire Wade previously attended Sierra Canyon High School, where he played basketball alongside Bronny James, son of NBA superstar LeBron James, for one season, during Zaire's senior year and Bronny's freshman year. Notably, their fathers, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James, secured two NBA championships together as teammates for the Miami Heat. Zaire chose to pursue a professional basketball career rather than attend college, with his most recent play occurring in South Africa in 2024.
Zaire is one of two children Dwyane Wade shares with his former wife, Siohvaughn Funches. Dwyane Wade is currently married to actress Gabrielle Union, with whom he has two children. He also has another child from a separate relationship.
Dwyane Wade himself is a celebrated NBA Hall of Famer, having earned three championship titles with the Miami Heat. His illustrious career includes 13 All-Star selections, an NBA scoring title in the 2008-09 season, and a recent induction into the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team, recognizing him as one of the 75 greatest players in league history.
